The wedding events will take place outdoors at venues overlooking the beach.
Where is Punta Blanca?
Punta Blanca is a beach in the Coast of Ecuador and it is located about 2 hours away from Guayaquil. We will offer shuttles on Thursday from Guayaquil to Punta Blanca for international guests traveling from abroad.
What can I expect from an Indian wedding?
Indian weddings tend to span over a couple of days. Each region of India has its own specific customs, but the general concept is the same. Our wedding will be filled with colors, music, and plenty of food and dancing. Here is a link explaining some of the most commonly seen traditions at Indian weddings:
What about wedding gifts?
Your presence at the events and blessings are the best gift we can hope to receive. If you really want to give us something, we ask that you prepare an artistic presentation number for our Sangeet night (dancing, singing, stand up comedy, poetry, anything goes!) and let us know so we can include it in the night’s programming 🙂
What is the dress code?
The wedding ceremony and reception dress code is formal. Please review each event’s page for detailed information on dress codes.
What should I wear? Do I have to wear Indian clothes?
Indian attire is encouraged but certainly not expected! If you decide you want to wear Indian clothes, there are several types of Indian outfits, and there is no specific requirement for what types of outfits should be worn to the different events. Here are some online retailers for Indian outfits:

Please plan to arrive at the events on time! We want you to enjoy the entire celebration and all the surprises to come!

Do I need a Visa to travel to Ecuador?
If you are traveling from the United States and are a US citizen, you do not need a visa. If you are traveling from India and are an Indian citizen, then YES, you NEED a visa and should apply for it through Ecuador’s Embassy in New Delhi, India. If you are a passport holder from a different country, please look online whether you require a visa to travel to Ecuador or contact us directly and we can help look it up.
What airport should I fly into?
Make sure your final destination is Guayaquil and your plane lands at Jose Joaquin de Olmedo International Airport.
What will the weather be like in Ecuador?
In August, temperatures in Guayaquil and other parts of the coast (think Punta Blanca) will be mild and range between 69°F and 80°F (20°C-26°C). Rain is very uncommon during this time of year. If you head to the highlands you will experience cooler temperatures around 59°F (15°C). Be ready for the altitude of the highlands! Quito, the capital of Ecuador, is located approximately 9,350 feet (2,850meters) above sea level.
Does anyone Speak English in Ecuador?
Yes, many locals speak at least basic English, but having Google Translate will come in handy. We encourage you to practice some Spanish while you are there! The locals are super friendly and will appreciate your effort!
Can I drink the tap water?
No! For your safety, please always drink bottled and/or filtered water. At restaurants you will be served bottled water and charged for it.
Should I tip at restaurants?
Tipping is not mandatory or customary as it is in the USA. If a service charge is not already added to your bill, then tipping is at your discretion. If you decide to leave a tip, a few dollars or 10% is a very generous amount.
Do I need an adapter for my charger and other electronics?
If you are traveling from the United States, your chargers will work the same way they do in the United States. If you are traveling from India, then -yes, you need an adapter. Ecuador uses plug types A and B.
Is it Safe to explore the different parts of Ecuador?
As a tourist, you should be safe exploring ecuador! Like in any other destination, there are areas you should avoid. You can call us if you have any questions at the time of exploring. Here are some general safety tips to keep in mind as you explore around the city!
– Keep your phone, wallet in your front pocket and purse with you at all times. Make sure you know where your personal belongings are at all times and do not leave them unattended.
– Avoid using expensive items (bags, jewelry, watches) while exploring the city.
– Do not walk alone at night in the city, especially if you aren’t sure whether or not the area is safe.
How can I get around in the city? Does Uber work? Can I take a taxi?
You can take Uber in Guayaquil and different parts of Ecuador. You can also rent a car and we have included car rental options. Remember, we will offer transportation for people traveling from abroad to and from hotels/accommodations and wedding venues. If you plan on visiting Cuenca before or after the wedding festivities, you can use AZUtaxi there.
What’s Ecuador’s currency?
Ecuador’s currency is the US dollar. If you are traveling from the United States, you should be all set! If you are traveling from India, make sure to exchange your Indian Rupees for some US dollars. The current exchange rate is ~84:1.
Please note that Venmo, Apple Pay or Google Pay do not work in Ecuador. Most places in the City will allow you to use your credit card except when your balance is a smaller amount, then cash is preferred. You will also need cash if you are paying for souvenirs or snacks at small vendor stalls.
Can I use my phone in Ecuador?
If your phone plan offers roaming, then you should be able to use your phone in Ecuador. Alternatively, if your phone is unlocked (not under contract with a career), you can buy a SIM card from a local phone company (Movistar or Claro) to use during your stay. People in Ecuador primarily text/communicate via WhatsApp!
